The attack on trans folks continues even in states considered safe such as New Jersey. Across the state, Trans Youth are being attacked within the school districts. As a transmasc, queer, Indian alumni from Middletown High School South, the lack of inclusion within BOE policies and throughout the district as a whole impacted my well-being and transition. I experienced depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts and attempts, transphobia, racism, homophobia, and even had to sign a contract when taking a girl to prom saying I wouldn't show physical affection. Growing up in an environment like this, I was conditioned to accept hate and violence toward myself and my community. Living back in Monmouth County as a transitioned adult, I am experiencing the same feelings and setbacks.

We MUST protect trans folks. Ignoring the facts, the stats, and the lives of our youth will have devastating outcomes. Take action now and spread the word!
